Shade And Tone Workshop

For this workshop we were practising tone and shading I used an image I took of a church in Southport and drew an outline and some basic detail onto paper. I then used two colours of ink to show the tones and shading, I chose red and blue to make the separate colours stand out.

I drew another image of the monument in Southport which I had taken, again I drew the outline lightly and some detail of the windows and doors. I used pencil instead of ink and chose the three colours as yellow, purple and blue. The darkest parts of the image I shaded in dark blue then the middle tones I shaded purple and the lightest in yellow.

Measuring Using Shapes The way I did this work shop was by looking at the image of the rabbit I had and deciding what sort of basic shapes it looked like so I drew an oval for the body a triangle for the head and two ovals for the ears. This gives an overall shape for the rabbit making it easier to draw and makes the shape more precise. I then drew over the shapes to make the body of the rabbit. Then I added detail and shading to create the final rabbit.

Banksy stencils

For our Banksy work we decided to create stencils, I chose to do a practise stencil where I used an image of a model from a Vogue magazine. I took the image from the magazine and then used a sheet of acertate and a sharpie to trace around the outline of the models face and hair. When I was happy with the outline I used a craft knife and a cutting board to cut out the sections that I wanted to show when I spray painted it. I didn't spray paint my practise stencil I went on to take my own photo of my friends face and then used that for my actual stencil. I repeated the steps I did for the practise and then chose three types of paper graph paper, sketch book paper and brown paper for the backgrounds. The steps to spray painting were to go into a different room place the background paper down then the stencil on top, I held the stencil in the corner to prevent it from moving when painting it. The first colour spray paint I used was orange, then red and then on my third one I used green
